Spices: How to transform food systems to be truly sustainable
SPICES (Strategic Policymaking for Integrated and Coherent Environmental and Social Sustainability in Food Systems) is an international research initiative tackling one of the most urgent challenges of our time: how to transform food systems to be truly sustainable, just, and resilient.
Recently funded by the University of Luxembourg Audacity grant, the project explores how policies can be better aligned across sectors and governance levels to support environmental conservation, social equity, and economic viability. By combining comparative research, participatory foresight workshops, and innovative mapping of food system actors and power dynamics, SPICES² seeks to identify practical policy levers that can unlock transformative change.
This project brings together a consortium of researchers based in Luxembourg, Mexico, and Canada—including my own work in Quebec.
